Hon. Peter Bunting

Peter Bunting was appointed Minister of National Security January 6, 2012, a portfolio he has shadowed since October 2008.

His foray into representational politics started with a single term in 1993, as the Member of Parliament for South East Clarendon. No stranger to being in positions of service to the Jamaican people, Mr. bunting has also served as Chairman of the National Water Commission, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Health, president and CEO of the National Investment Bank of Jamaica, and Chairman of JAMPRO.

He successfully re-entered the political arena in 2007 as Member of Parliament for Central Manchester, again retaining his seat in the December 2010 general election. He has also been the People’s National Party’s General Secretary since January 27, 2008, and was National Campaign Manager for the 2011 General Election.

A co-founder and Chairman of Dehring, Bunting and Golding (now Scotia DBG), - Mr. Bunting earned a reputation for creative thinking and strategic action.

After a brief respite, he re-entered the financial services sector in 2010 with the launch of Proven Investments Limited (PIL – a St. Lucia-registered international business company), an investment company with a portfolio of regional and international securities. Within a few months of being established, PIL acquired Guardian Asset Management and renamed it Proven Wealth Limited (PWL), where he now serves as Chairman of the Board.

A banker by profession, Mr. Bunting earned a Bachelor’s in Engineering (Mechanical) from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida in Gainesville.
