Hon. Julian Robinson

The Honourable Julian J. Robinson is currently Minister of State in the Ministry of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining, Member of Parliament for the constituency of St. Andrew South Eastern and serves as a Deputy General Secretary of the People’s National Party. Before entering representational politics, Minister Robinson began his career as a Management and eBusiness Consultant in London, where he worked for international firms IBM and Scient. His primary responsibilities there included developing eBusiness strategies, designing and developing business processes and launching eBusiness initiatives.

In 2001, he was recruited by Jamaica’s investment promotion agency, JAMPRO, and returned home to help Jamaica develop its Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) sector. As Manager for Investment Promotion, his main responsibilities included the development and execution of strategies and programmes to market Jamaica as an offshore location for ICT investment. In his time at JAMPRO, Minister Robinson was instrumental in positioning Jamaica as a player in the ICT outsourcing industry and attracting a number of major international companies into establishing offshore outsourcing operations in Jamaica.

A graduate of the Hope Valley Experimental Primary School and Campion College, Minister Robinson earned his BSc in Management and Economics from the University of the West Indies, Mona. He also holds a MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the USA.
